Agua Segura - Scientific Water Monitoring
A citizen-science project developed in rural Guatemala to empower local communities with tools and knowledge to monitor water quality. I co-designed a participatory system combining chemistry, open data, and digital platforms to turn environmental science into community action.
Highlights
- Created the first community-based water monitoring network in San Marcos.
- Designed an open monitoring workflow that combines sampling, field lab tests and an accessible data pipeline.
- Trained community coordinators and produced step-by-step handbooks to sustain the project after the field mission.
- Co-designed an impact dashboard that supports local decision makers and funding partners.
